Lusahunga – Rusumo road (92km) is part of the Central Corridor T-3 route running from Dar es Salaam via Dodoma and Singida to Rusumo Falls boarder post with Rwanda. Nyakasanza – Kobero road section (58 Km) braches off  Lusahunga – Rusumo road at Nyakasanza and connects the land locked country of Burundi.

Detailed engineering design, Preliminary ESIA, Economic Evaluation and Preparation of Tender Documents for rehabilitation of the roads was accomplished in 2014 under financing of the World bank
