The 190km Buzirayombo – Geita – Usagara road section is part of the highly ranked Lake Victoria Circuit Road connecting Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

Upgrading of 190km Buzirayombo – Geita section to bitumen standard including ferry terminals at Kigongo and Busisi was implemented under design and build contracts between 2005 and 2010.
