The South Western National Trunk Road starts at Tunduma near Tanzania Zambia boarder to Sumbawanga town (245km) then extending northwest to Mpanda town (245Km).

Upgrading of Sumbawanga – Kanazi section (75km) and Kanazi – Namanyere – Kibaoni section (76km) to bitumen standard has been completed under financing of the Government of Tanzania
